Carterton has been my home since 1963. I am married to Rod who was in the RAF at Brize and Lyneham and we have been in our present home since 1971. I have always felt very proud of our town and living in West Oxfordshire.

I have watched with interest the changing face of Carterton and on retirement I decided the best way I could help the growth of our town was to stand for a seat on the Council. I was elected in May 2011.

WHAT I DO

I serve on various Town Council committees and I am also a member of the Events Working Group. I am passionately committed to the regeneration of the town.

I have been proactive in my every day Council work and have been successful in promoting our Town by supporting local businesses and schools.  I feel great pride in having secured funding for the Repatriation Memorial Bell and in 2013 raised over £11k towards the refurbishment of the Repatriation pavilion; I also obtained funding of £2,500 for our pavilion on the Alvescot Road Recreation Ground in order to support the Carterton Community Food Bank. I am happy to take on individual projects around the town as I take great satisfaction in solving problems and issues that the residents may have. I am Divisional Secretary for SSAFA and a Welfare Officer for RAFA and a member of the RBL. These charities are very important here in Carterton and to all of us who have or have ever had a connection with the military. My commitment to the Town Council is paramount and I have never missed a meeting of the full Council.

One of the most important roles I have had is providing the crucial link between the town and RAF Brize Norton. I meet regularly with a number of key people and am privileged to count those relationships among the most successful the Council has in its ongoing support of the Station and its personnel.

In my time as Mayor, I enjoyed supporting our Over 60s Club and both the Carterton Day Centre and the Carterton Family Centre.

THE FUTURE

The future development of our unique and wonderful town is very important to all of us who live and work here. I remain committed to making sure that the residents of Carterton get the services and facilities they rightly deserve and you can be confident that I will continue to be proactive in leading this Council to achieving even bigger and better things for this town.
