Remembrance Sunday 2017
Thank you to everyone who attended and showed their support. Armed Forces Day
Saturday 17th June saw Carterton Armed Forces Day held on Alvescot Road Recreation Ground. By flying the Armed Forces Day flag, we are showing our appreciation for the outstanding service made by all our armed forces as they work to protect our country and provide stability and security on a worldwide level. Here in Carterton we have very close ties with RAF Brize Norton and all personnel at the station. The Town Council was proud and honoured in 2016 to present RAF Brize Norton with the Freedom of the Town in recognition of all that they do. My thanks go to the Station Commander and our local MP for joining me at the opening ceremony. We were entertained by the RAF Falcons, a flypast from an A400M, tug of war, dog show, fun fair, BBQ and lots of free entertainment for all the children, which was run by Oxfordshire Play Association. May I also take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers on the day, including the manager of Brownes Hall, that made the day the success that it was.
It was great to see so many of you showing your support to our Armed Forces.
Lynn Little, Town Mayor
