Morrisons are keen to press ahead to develop their new store in the town centre on the old market site. They launched a consultation with an exhibition at the Town Hall at the end of November. This information is now available on their website.

To view their initial plans, click on this link to look at details: www.morrisonscarterton.co.uk/have-your-say.php although the closing date for comments has now passed.

We have been told that the results of this consultation will be posted on the same website, along with an update on progress, shortly.

We have also been told there will be another opportunity for the Town Council to look at revised plans early in the New Year (2012) before a formal planning application is made.

Carterton Job Club Extension

The Job Club continues to support those looking for work or training on alternate Thursdays. Go to www.carterton-tc.gov.uk/jobclub for the Job Club pages. They also include a range of useful briefings on topics such an interview techniques and writing CVs. The Club was visited recently by Nick Hurd MP Minister for the Civic Society who was impressed by what he saw.
We are pleased to announce that we have been awarded a substantial grant by the Community Covenant Fund to provide a reception area downstairs at the Town Hall, so that those searching for jobs can have access to facilities to assist them every working day. The Job Club will continue to meet on a fortnightly basis, but clients will also be able to follow up actions in between sessions.

The next Job Club Session will be held on Thursday 16th February 2012 at 9.30 a.m. at the Town Hall

Carterton Fast Forward Review

Early in the New Year (2012) we will be reviewing our current Delivery Plan see here as it will be 3 years old and there are many changes taking place in the town. We will be looking at how much in the current plan has been achieved and developing a new plan to cover the next 3/5 years.

Details will be posted on the About the Partnership page. Go to www.carterton-tc.gov.uk/fastforward

MIDCOUNTIES CO-OP SUPPORTS TREE GIFT CARDS FOR HELP FOR HEROES

Gift cards to buy and dedicate a tree as a living legacy and raise funds for Help for Heroes are available for the first time from a food store - The Midcounties Co-operative in Carterton. Witney-based woodland creation company OxTreeGen chose the community retailer as a stockist because of its local connections and its proximity to RAF Brize Norton, now the national centre for the repatriation of fallen service personnel.

Pictured from left at the Midcounties Co-operative in Carterton are Store Manager Chris Chandler, Steph Park, Hero Bear, the Help for Heroes mascot, Natasha Blay and Barney Jenkins of OxTreeGen.
