  The next Carterton Job Club session will be held at Carterton Town Hall on Friday 3rd May 2013. PLEASE NOTE THIS IS A DIFFERENT DAY THIS TIME BECAUSE OF OCC ELECTIONS. Carterton May Day Fair : From 11am Edit 
  The Carterton & Witney branch of Save the Children Fund are hosting their annual May Day Fair and Car Boot Sale on Monday 6th May on the Alvescot Road Recreation Ground and the Social Centre. From 11am (car boot entry between 10.15am-10.45am). There will be lots of stalls and entertainment including fair ground rides, a BBQ, book stall, bouncy castle, ice creams, a childrens corner, a dog show and lots more! There is no entrance fee, so come along and enjoy a fun family day out! All profits raised from this event shall go to Save the Children Fund, to help disadvantaged children in this country and abroad.  
 

Exciting timber Frame carpentry courses! : for 3 weeks Edit 
  Exciting traditional timber framing courses running at Harcourt Arboretum 6th - 10th, 13th - 17th, and 20th - 24th of May. We have an exciting Green Oak Timber Framing project coming up in May: Harcourt Arboretum in Nuneham Courtney will be building a craft shelter in their coppice woodland, and are running the project as a series of courses throughout May, taught by renown timber frame practitioner and instructor Henry Russell. It is set to be a great event, and a delightful building, offering training in many relevant and transferrable skills for other woodland activities and carpentry projects. Planning Committee : 7.30 p.m. Edit 
  The next meeting of the Town Council Planning Committee will take place on Tuesday 7 May 2013 at 7.30 p.m. at the Town Hall, Alvescot Road, Carterton. The Agenda will be displayed on this website and on the Town Hall Noticeboard. Members of the public and press are welcome to attend.

Quiz Night : 6:45pm Edit 
  2267 (Brize Norton) Sqn Air Training Corps are holding a Quiz Night at Carterton Community College to help raise funds for the purchase of a Flight Simulator. Entry fee £20 per team (£2.50 per head). Teams to be of up to 8 people, with at least 2 people under 18 years old. Refreshments will be available and a raffle will be held. Ideally, please RSVP to b2267sqnquiznight@hotmail.co. uk. However, if unable to RSVP, just turn up.  
 

Annual Town Meeting : 7.00 p.m. Edit 
  The Town Councils Annual Town meeting will be held on Wednesday 8th May 2013 at 7.00 p.m. at St Johns Church, Burford Road, Carterton. This is your opportunity to find out what is happening in the town and to ask questions of District, Town and County Councillors. Members of the public and press are invited to attend.  
 

May 9
Repatriations : 4.15 pm Edit 
  We have been advised by RAF Brize Norton that the Repatriations of Cpl William Savage and Fusilier Samuel Flint from the Royal Highland Fusiliers, the 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment Of Scotland and Pte Robert Hetherington, of the 51st Highland, 7th Battalion will take place on Thursday 9th May 2013. The aircraft will land at approx 1.30pm. It is estimated that the cortege will pass the Memorial Garden at approximately 4.15pm, reaching the John Radcliffe Hospital approximately 5.15pm Norton Way will be closed from approximately 1.30pm, whilst Station Road, Brize Norton, will be closed for approximately 10 minutes once the cortege leaves Britannia Gate at RAF Brize Norton.

Table Top Sale & French Market : 9am - 12noon Edit 
  Table Top Sale to be held at the Carterton Community Centre, Marigold Square, Shilton Park OX18 1AX from 9am – 12noon on Saturday 11th May. Please call Gill on 01993 842807 to book a table/pitch. Cafe will be open, admission is free so pop along to get yourself a bargain then relax in our friendly cafe with a drink & something to eat. Next date: 13th July - book now While the table top sale is open there will be a French Market on the square opposite the Centre who will stay until later in the afternoon.  
 

Food Drive Oxfordshirewest Foodbank : 10am Edit 
  Oxfordshirewest Foodbanks food drive takes place on the 11th and 12th May from 10am - 6pm under the clock outside Waitrose in Witney. We will be there to collect any food donations. If you would like to help out manning the stall, please contact Jo on 07557 979384.

Carterton Bandstand Concert : 1.00-3.00 pm Edit 
  There will be a band concert by the Burford School Band on the Bandstand at the Alvescot Road Recreation Ground in Carterton on the afternoon of Sunday 12th May. Refreshments will be on sale and please bring your own seating!

RAF Brize Norton Playday : 11 am - 3 pm Edit 
  TThe RAF Brize Norton Community Covenant Play & Activity Day will be held on the Alvescot Road Recreation Ground on Saturday 18th May 2013 between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm. This event is open to all, with Free Entrance and Free Activities. These include a Playbus, Graffiti Wall, Orinoco Scrapstore, Go Kart Party, Arts & Crafts, Sports Tasters, Play Rangers, Circus Skills, Tricky Trail Biking, Martial Arts, Music and much, much more.   Carterton Live at Home scheme are holding our Open Day at The Homestead, Flax Crescent, Shilton Park, Carterton. There will be various activities to sample, along with afternoon tea and an opportunity to find out more about our new scheme which supports the older person in the community. We look forward to seeing you there.
